America’s only choices are imperialism abroad, or fascism at home. They can blow up the world, as Biden is doing, or blow up their own country via Trump. In the end both disasters will happen, just in different proportions. Biden is also destroying America, and Trump is also terrible for the world. There is no ‘lesser’ evil in America. It’s just nearer or further evil. The ‘evil’ in the evil Empire is constant no matter what.

The Further Führer

Joe Biden is the further führer, unleashing his worst predations abroad. Right now, he is presiding over the industrial genocide of the Palestinian people, while also getting his proxy ass-kicked in Ukraine and destroying Germany, like some other führers we know. If he gets re-elected who knows how many more wars he’ll start. He’s going to die in a few years and he seems determined to take as many people with him as possible.

Biden has unleashed an absolute necrophiliac orgy of corruption in Ukraine and has already moved onto the more comfortable terrain of Palestine, dropping expensive bombs on poor people without air defenses. Being the world’s biggest arms dealer is the only Presidential job he takes seriously, everything else is too difficult. Biden is the last, dying imperialist of a dying imperial order and while he can’t win anything, he can certainly kill a lot of people on the way out.

The Nearer Nazi

In the other corner, we have Donald Trump, the nearer Nazi. Drumpf saves his vitriol and violence for borders he knows, like Mexico. Trump campaigned by dehumanizing migrants, ruled by throwing them into concentration camps, and promises to do worse if re-elected. While he periodically bombed the Middle East as President (you have to), he was fundamentally more interested in beating up protesters in Middle America.

Whereas Biden uses Ukraine for corruption, Trump just opened a hotel across from the White House and collected bribes there. As I said, he’s the nearer Nazi. Trump viewed the Presidency as shit-poster in chief and was dethroned when COVID-19 couldn’t be catch-phrased into submission. Trump ended up killing and disabling millions Americans, but involuntarily (a policy his successor continued). Trump was the idiot President of an idiot country, whose only remaining skill was boasting. Trump can also kill a lot of people on the way out, but less predictably, and probably more at home.

No Lesser Evil

There is no lesser evil here, it’s all evil, just in different directions. Biden is a devoted Orientalist while Biden is a Nativist, but they’re both just assholes. Biden and Trump are two sides of the same imperial coin, one for export purposes and the other local. Indeed, this is that nature of imperialism/colonialism. It is a cancer which eats at the heart of Empire and emerges as fascism, the colonization of your own people. As Aimé Césaire said:

People are surprised, they become indignant. They say: “How strange! But never mind — it’s Nazism, it will pass!” And they wait, and they hope; and they hide the truth from themselves, that it is barbarism, the supreme barbarism, the crowning barbarism that sums up all the daily barbarisms; thatit is Nazism, yes, but that before they were its victims, they were its accomplices; that they tolerated that Nazism before it was inflicted on them, thatthey absolved it, shut their eyes to it, legitimized it, because, until then, it had been applied only to non-European peoples;that they have cultivated that Nazism, that they are responsible for it, and that before engulfing the whole edifice of Western, Christian civilization in its reddened waters, it oozes, seeps, and trickles from every crack.

The fact is that Fascism and Imperialism are the same thing, just pointed in different directions. The same people that complain about Trump’s Nazism have been the willing accomplices of American Nazism all over the globe. Fascism is just imperialism turned inwards, and imperialism is just fascism turned inside out. People act shocked, shocked that Trump might make America fascist, but America is already fascist to the people it invades, coups, bombs, and genocides under Biden. American liberals just don’t want their country to be fascist to them, but that’s just ‘chickens coming home to roost,’ as Malcolm X said. Those liberals can go pluck themselves.

Indeed, America was founded on a totalitarian fascism so vile it inspired the Nazis, and then — after the WWII — they and Europeans practiced genocide, concentration camps, and all the things they berated Nazis for, with actual Nazis on board. The ‘cold’ in Cold War only describes white blood when committing atrocities against non-Europeans. With all the armored chickens they let loose across the globe, the only wonder is why they’re coming to roost so late now.

World War II was just European colonialism collapsing inwards, into a black hole of fascism. Hitler, wanting to get in on the fun, found all the good colonies taken and had to colonize Europe. As Hitler said, “If a nation confines itself to ‘internal colonisation’, while other races are perpetually increasing their territorial possessions all over the globe, that nation will be forced to restrict the numerical growth of its population at a time when the other nations are increasing theirs.” In this way, Hitler was really the last honest European. He said what Europeans did, and did it to Europeans. Europe was and is full of mini-Hitlers towards the rest of the world, they just didn’t like it when colonization happened to them. As the inestimable Césaire continues:

Yes, it would be worthwhile to study clinically, in detail, the steps taken by Hitler and Hitlerism and to reveal to the very distinguished, very humanistic, very Christian bourgeois of the twentieth century that without his being aware of it, he has a Hitler inside him, that Hitler inhabits him, that Hitler is his demon, that if he rails against him, he is being inconsistent and that, at bottom, what he cannot forgive Hitler for is not the crime in itself, the crime against man, it is not the humiliation of man as such, it is the crime against the white man, the humiliation of the white man, and the fact that he applied to Europe colonialist procedures which until then had been reserved exclusively for the Arabs of Algeria, the “coolies” of India, and the “niggers” of Africa.

The point is that one cannot gaze long into the abyss before the abyss gazes back. What goes around comes around, chickens come home to roost, there are many pithy sayings stating the obvious truth. Fuck around and find out, this is the eternal law. Americans should thus not be surprised when their country becomes openly fascist, it’s always been fascist somewhere, just to non-white people they didn’t care about. The world should also not be surprised when American imperialism collapses into World War III, if it has not, indeed, already started.

Americans can honestly shove their ballots up their asses for all I care. The Empire is not going to be fixed, and certainly not by voting, it needs to be resisted by any means necessary, as the brave Palestinian Resistance is doing right now. There are of course third-party candidates on the ballot, but RFK is another Zionist and Cornell West is improbable. It’s certainly not throwing away your vote for someone you actually like, and is certainly better than throwing away your historical reputation by voting for either Tweedle-Dumb or Tweedle-Bomb. But let’s not kid ourselves. Democracy™ is just a duopoly of disaster, the choice between getting shot or stabbed, with millions more killed internationally that have no choice in the matter at all. I honestly don’t have a horse in this race and hope the racecourse just burns down.

The only thing on the American ballot this election is racism, and the only choice is racism abroad or at home. The only thing on the ballot is corruption, and the only choice is right in front of you or far from home. The only thing on the ballot is cruelty and violence, either open and proud or lying and hypocritical. The only choice is no choice, because America is not a functional democracy or even a functional country, it’s just the capital of an imperial White Empire, inexorably collapsing into fascism at home, destroying the planet on the way out. There is no ‘lesser’ evil available here, it’s just two brands of evil, pointed in different directions. Americans can choose the further führer or the nearer Nazi, and they both suck. It’s imperialism, fascism or — best-case scenario — bust.
