These Are The Good Years

I don’t even believe what I’m writing here. This is something knowable but unbelievable. You can read this whole article and agree with it, but part of your brain will just stubbornly say ‘No’. And our brains are right. Processing this information is not helpful. If the world is ending what the fuck are you going to do about it? Best to enter a state of waking REM and ‘feel fine’.

Penultimate Times

The undigestible fact is this. These are the good times. Yes, these demented years, each more fucked up than the last, these are still better than the decades to come. Forgive me for getting biblical on that ass, but as Jesus said:

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

If you treat the Bible as poetry, it is undeniable to say that reality rhymes. Today we hear of wars and rumours of wars from Ukraine to Taiwan. There is already famine and epidemic disease, although not so many earthquakes. Human history is such that you could have said this at many times but now we have warnings from secular priests about something a lot more final.

Take the latest IPCC report on climate collapse:

The sixth IPCC report

It says:

“The cumulative scientific evidence is unequivocal: Climate change is a threat to human well-being and planetary health. Any further delay in concerted anticipatory global action on adaptation and mitigation will miss a brief and rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all. (very high confidence).

Even science is an apocalyptic faith now. Shout-out to Gog and Magog.

And yet the fact is that these ‘facts’ are still a matter of belief. They are still a subject of debate and, as such, of delay. White Empire has adopted secular science as its state religion, and ignores it as much as Christendom ignored Christ. While China is doing something and the Global South is doing little damage by default, the White Empire (now based out of America) is pumping even more oil and fighting over fossil fuels. The old colonists are still at the wheel, and they’re only hitting the gas off the climate cliff.

Where we are is the end of Thelma & Louise (spoiler alert). The car is in the air and seems to be flying, but will inevitably hit the ground. Hence these are not the end times but the penultimate times. The strange moment before the fall.

The End Times

As such these are the good years, at least relative to what’s to come. Within this decade (or even year) we’ll see global financial collapse. Bankers and wankers will lose their shirts, and the poor will lose their bodies to poverty and hunger. The ‘middle-class’ will largely be obliterated and people will bifurcate into very rich and very poor.

This is a highly charged situation, so we’ll get insurrection and war. In truth, this has already begun in places like Sri Lanka which is a news story now but will be apparent to you soon enough. If it isn’t already.

Where we are is disturbingly similar to last century, with a powerful country one financial collapse away from fascism (then Germany, now America), with a financial system on the verge of an obvious crash, and what followed then was a 20-year blood-letting for white people and what those reptiles called a Cold War for us in the ‘third world’. The kicker this time is that we are not only about to fuck ourselves, the Earth itself is fed up.

While rising temperatures, seas, and tensions certainly won’t end humanity (we’re like cockroaches with guns), it’ll certainly end a lot of us. Tens of millions at the least, probably hundreds. I’m sorry, those aren’t numbers, and death will come soonest to the young, the weak, and the poor. This is why I don’t believe in God’s judgement, because the guilty get it last if at all.

Whatever we call time—ie the world dated from the birth of Jesus (who was culturally appropriated) and centered around the European experience—is coming to a grinding halt. We are at the logical end of climate colonialism, which is the exhaustion of it all.

These Times

I can tell you all this and neither you or I will really believe it. We can understand it, but it simply cannot be processed. You are reading this on an electrical device, you’ve inshallah had a meal today, and you look outside and everything looks normal. I can doom-and-gloom all day but it simply doesn’t match the evidence of my life, and my country has already collapsed. I don’t know what it is but we keep redefining normal even as things get more and more fucked up.

This is a psychological quirk deeply tied to survival and I don’t begrudge it. The alternative is actually feeling this trauma and whenever I actually do, I don’t fucking wanna. That’s why I say these are the good times, because in the penultimate era we still have the luxury of ignoring the end and, as they say, ignorance is bliss. Shit is real and I wish you bliss. I hope you read this article and just cognitive dissonance it away. I wouldn’t wish this world on anyone.

The shocking fact is that these years of pandemic, strife, and collapse are the good years, the historical fart before shit hits the fan. I honestly used to look forward to this change as being righteous, as taking the evil White Empire down, but nope, it’s just wrong and it falls on the poor and helpless worst of all. The people that least deserve it are going under first, while the rich and powerful are living it up all the way down.

These terrible years are actually better than what’s to come. You can know this but I truly hope you don’t understand. Just as I’ll write this and go on. In these bad years, all we have are days. I hope you have a good one. And serve the poor. God is checking up.
