America’s Violent Empire Is Imploding
Chickens have come home to roost
America has been a violent empire for decades. America maintains over 800 military bases and is actively killing in 14 countries right now. Their own violence has come home, and white pundits are somehow surprised. They say, “this looks like Afghanistan or Iraq now.” No shit. This is you.
As Shailja Patel sarcastically said about the Capitol mob, many of them ex-stormtroopers, “Just unfathomable that Americans indoctrinated, trained, and paid to overthrow other governments, and destroy other countries, on the orders of their Commander-in-Chief, would try to overthrow the government of this country on the orders of their Commander-in-Chief.”
Now your active stormtroopers are in your Capitol, in the classic ‘oops we broke it, now we have to occupy it’ trick that America does all over the world. This is not something unusual happening to you. This is you happening to you. Ask the world you oblivious tits. America has been at continuous war for decades. Did you think it would never come home? Any old farm boy could’ve told you. Chickens come home to roost.
America Is An Empire
People are like, oh, America’s not an empire. Then what the fuck is this?
This is a map of US troop deployments across the world, depicted as a Risk game. It’s so monstrous you’ll really have to zoom. The only places America doesn’t have some troop presence (ranging from a few Embassy Marines to full occupations) are effectively besieged. Look at Iran in the middle of your aggression, and how you somehow portray them as the problem. America is at constant war everywhere and you’re not the good guys. After years of torture, rendition, death, and over 37 million displaced, don’t you get it? After losing every war while mercenaries profit, don’t you understand? YOU’RE THE BADDIES.
Your Empire Has Been Falling In
Since the 1990s, America has moved from occupying the world to occupying itself. Haven’t you ever wondered why small town cops have armored vehicles and body armor? Bush and Clinton brought home military equipment to fight the pointless War on Drugs and to brutalize people at your border. Then with your equally brutal and pointless War on Terror, you created a full-fledged internal police state in the DHS, and stormtroopers on your southern border in ICE. This was all bipartisan, and endlessly funded. It was only a matter of time before this wall of violence fell in on you, and it did. You should not be surprised. You should have been listening to all the people crying out in pain.
Black people, undocumented people, they could have told you America was a police state decades ago, but white people didn’t notice until they started getting pulled off the street by federales last year.
Under laws you didn’t give a shit about because they brutalized colored people, this was all legal. America’s brutal border police can operate 100-miles deep, and Trump called them out against protestors. Hence white people ended up in the back of white vans, like dafuq? Chickens actually came home to roost last year, if you were paying attention.
Now you’re stuck in a coop of your own making, and it’s full of shit.
The Empire Is Imploding Now
Now of course it’s all coming down. The whole violent empire is imploding. Today there are more than 3x as many troops deployed on Capitol Hill as in Iraq and Afghanistan combined, and these facts are not unrelated. Any farm child could tell you. This is like letting 15,000 chickens out in the morning and being confused that they come home at night.
The Capitol mob and the National Guard are two sides of the same bloody coin. This is precisely what America does. You destroy countries and then send in troops to ‘keep the peace’ that you destroyed. This is textbook pointless American imperialism, breaking things, pretending to fix them, never understanding that you are the problem. This is you, America. This is precisely who you are. This is how you deserve to go down, hearing the boots of your own stormtroopers on your own marble halls, not liking the sound.
The only people I feel any sympathy for are the Black people and minorities and the few decent white people stuck in the middle of America’s forever violent whiteness. They and the poor will catch the brunt of your collapse, and I do feel bad for that. But this rotten empire has to go. America is the only empire built on losing wars, on dropping expensive bombs on poor people, on sheer military-industrial grift leading to the deaths of millions and the ruin of tens of millions of lives.
America has always been built on violence, from genocide, to enslavement, to Jim Crow, to the current brutalization of ‘undocumented’ people. Think of that for a moment. Right now, America keeps more than 10 million people as ‘illegal’ human beings who are also essential workers.
Exploitable humans without any rights? What makes modern America any different from the slave states of yore? Americans like to think they’re a Christian nation, but they’re the fucking Romans. They’d crucify Christ as quickly now as then.
America’s violent empire is imploding and they deserve it, though unfortunately the greatest casualties will be among those that deserve it the least. But nothing can stop the inexorable farmhouse logic that’s already on the wing. As brother Malcolm said when Kennedy was shot, “Chickens coming home to roost never made me sad; they only made me glad.”
