Sri Lanka’s own JehanR has become a bit of an Internet sensation, riding his short films to a cameo spot in YouTube’s 2012 Rewind. His videos like ‘Shit Sri Lankan Mothers Say‘ and ‘Arranged Marriage Song‘ have gotten heaps of views, landing him a job at YouTube in the process.
He doesn’t live in Sri Lanka and I last saw him at a Google Hangout during this Mashable Meetup. That was him on a computer screen talking to like 300 people that weren’t talking back. It was kinda weird. This time, however, he seems to be physically here and will be talking at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (behind Independence Square) this Friday at 10:30 AM. A bit early during a workday, but may be worth a gander, and it’s not like these past weeks haven’t been an extended holiday anyways.
You can get more deets on the YAMU event page: Offline With JehanR.
