Front page has no original content.
The Fashion Circle had a launch event last week, which I was happy to see. Always happy to see Sri Lankans start stuff, especially online. I checked out the site, however, and I was quite disappointed. The front page is just articles copied and pasted from other sources, with attribution, but without permission. I’ve said it before, but you can’t just copy stuff from the net and source it. It’s disrespectful to those publications that do actual work and it’s disrespectful to your readers.
Far too many Sri Lankan sites suffer from this copy/paste mentality. Linking good, excerpts fine, but try to add some value. I discussed this in relation the Colombo Telegraph and it’s just not cool. If you go deep into The Fashion Circle there’s some limited local designer profiles, but besides that it’s just a bunch of copyright violations with no real thought or care behind it. They seem to be recruiting journalists and I do hope they improve.
Dear Indi, Thank you for the review. We actually haven’t copy pasted the content – we are working on news syndication partners and also we have given the sources at the end of the pages which are for non – copyrights content. We are in the process of recruiting contributors for local and international point of view. Let us re-affirm that we will be adding local content and featuring local news through columnists.
Many Thanks
The Fashion Circle Crew
