Sri Lanka is known for its tea. Our iced tea, however, is usually imported (I think, and I’m referring to the bottled kind). Come to think of it, the bottled kind is a rarity, I have no idea where it comes from. That’s why I was intrigued to try this bottle, by Akbar Brothers, a local brand.
The Akbar Brothers are some of the biggest exporters of tea in Sri Lanka. I was quite happy to see they’re now branding and selling iced tea. Akbar iced tea. I can suggest an obvious spokesperson. And a tagline – “So good, it’s a trap”. Anyways, so I tried it.
Kinda meh. It was one of those days where I’d drink almost anything, but it didn’t really impress. Tasted like iced tea. Bit too sweet. I dunno. Not like I can really remember a banging iced tea, but it must be possible. I think it cost like Rs. 120 but I don’t remember. This was the ODEL food court, Sandwich Factory. This is turning out to be a pretty shitty review.
Apparently Coco Veranda has a good iced tea. Barefoot iced tea is the classic, but they give you the sugar syrup separately. That always stresses me out.
