Big cardboard elephant. There’s even some (fake?) poop behind it.
So the Colombo Art Biennale is happening. Checked out some of the art at Park Street Mews last night and it’s pretty cool. Here’s a sampling.
These maps were some of my favorite pieces. They’re subtle and sly social commentary. This shows what a possible Tamil Eelam could look like, if the Sinhalese, Muslims and everyone else was washed into the sea.
This shows the Southern Expressway as a Great Wall, separating the undeveloped hinterland from the booming coast.
These are some rather subversive takes on Mahinda Money.
Finally, this is a dual video installation showing a grown man reacting to video of himself as a child. It’s quite charming and an interesting experience to watch two things at once.
Anyways, the art looks full pro this year. Going to pick up a friend from some Jihadi cruise liner and check out the other exhibits today, inshallah, at the National Art Gallery and the Visual Arts place (on Horton Place). I priorly posted a programme here.
Wowowow. Mind blown! :O
