Video of the Night Race qualifiers by Aman2o
Drove around Fort to see, but the Night Races haven’t started yet. There are beautiful classic cars lined up near the Galadari (Jaguars, roadsters, etc), but the Lambo’s and Porsches have yet to race. Stopped by Galle Face Green, and it’s not like average people are suffering. A ticket to the races is like Rs. 250 and it’s not like this or the Electric Peacock Festival or Avicii are the only seasonal parties going on. As I headed home, I saw that middle-class churches and parks were having their own events as well.
Average families were hanging out on the Galle Face Green as usual, flying kites and eating Nana’s barbecue chicken. St. Anthony’s (I think) in Wellawatte was having a do. Drove back the Dehiwela and dead crow park is all lit up cause they’re having an event there. The road up to Negombo (Christian stretch) must be bumping. Inequality is a problem all over the world, and I think equality is as important an economic goal as growth. This season, however, I think everyone has equal opportunity to have a good time. I hope you and yours do as well. Merry Christmas, Festivus, and End Of The Fiscal Year 2011.
