loved every bit of it! if this can’t make you laugh, i don’t know what will ^^
Indi, you seem to be an animal lover … Please keep your pet inside as the Government vans ( I hope, they are not “white vans”) are collecting the pets from the streets to unknown future. Animal lovers are concerned about these and are asking the Government: “Where these animals go and what will happen to them ?”

A few days ago, dogs are being collected from Matara to Galle and taken away by people who come in vans.
A tourist staying in Mirissa at a guesthouse had a rather shocking experience several days ago whilst on the beach. A large van arrived with men who came on to the beach and started picking up dogs. The men were equipped with rabies protective gloves and catching poles. They took a mother dog from the front of the guesthouse and then came back and put her four pups into a bag. This lady followed them to the van. She estimates that she saw about 30 dogs in a large cage within the van, all piled on top of one another and wetting themselves due to fear.
The owner of a shop in Weligama confirmed collection of dogs along the streets, including the one that lived outside his shop. From the route the van has taken over the last few days this “team” seems to be collecting dogs from Matara towards Galle. There are some dogs on the main road in Mirissa now, but hardly any on the beach itself; they have all been taken away.
Could the President’s Office kindly clarify to the public why dogs are being rounded up, where all these dogs are been taken to and by whom, and what is happening to these dogs? We demand answers to the above questions as all of us have invested heavily in terms of money, time and labour in the sterilisations and vaccination of dogs under the President’s no-kill policy, which led us to believe that dogs are not to be removed or killed.
Is this an act of a group that is trying to tarnish the image of the President as a humanist and divert tourists to more humane and dog-friendly destinations to stall the development that is taking place?
We demand that this dastardly and inhumane act carried out in total violation of the no-kill policy on dogs be stopped immediately.
