UPDATE: They’ve just released revises scores online. Still. Thank for messing up Christmas for thousands of families.
The Department Of Examinations has fumbled and now completely dropped the ball on A/Level results. First the results were late, then finally released on Christmas, and now they’re saying that the results of some students could be wrong, effectively meaning that none of the results are reliable. Kids study for these exams for years and try to get stuff right, but the Exams Department can’t even add up the scores. I give them a Fail.
Sayy has some interesting comments on the issue:
Its hard for me to understand that the sorting algorithm of the computer didn’t work properly. I can understand that people at the department are human’s and it could have been even a very simple error of some sort, but considering the magnitude of it, its a must that there should be a public disclosure and complete transparency. If not there is no way which even a pinch of trust can be brought back with regard to our examination process. (Results mess – History repeats)
A bigger issue, of course, is that passing the A/Level and finishing state university actually gives you a higher chance of unemployment than dropping out after O/Levels. The education system is the most vital base for Sri Lanka’s continued growth and it sadly looks to be a bit of a mess.
