Cup of tea, near Nasik, India
I had a long day at work (new job) and this server demo was messing up at home. So I was a bit stressed. The girl offered to make me a cup of tea. It’s funny how Sri Lankans will offer to make tea as an almost symbolic gift for almost any occasion. If you say you have cancer they’ll offer to make some tea. It’s not that tea cures cancer, but it somehow makes you feel better. It’s a symbolic gift of tea. Sri Lanka has sent tea to Japan (thru Sarvodaya I heard). Prior to that we sent some to New Zealand as well.
Wonderful thing, a cup of tea. The ritual of making it and sipping it is like therapy. Wish someone would invent a selfcleaning teapot, jug and strainer though.
Great picture!
Shammi is right. You need to get a tea pot with an infuser.

I think there’s a thing where a good Sri Lankan wife can always make a great cup of tea?? :D or was it about being able to cut a pineapple perfectly… :/
The pineapple thing is that ‘A greedy person can never cut a pineapple well’, because when cutting a pineapple, a good portion of it goes to waste. A greedy person would have holes in their tongues trying to eat pineapple with those spike-like-things. ;)
You mean a stingy person. When a greedy person like myself cuts a pineapple a large portion of it vanishes.
There is a way to cut it without wasting though, the spiky bits are gouged out by cutting a spiral lne around the fruit from top to bottom.
I should get one of those as long as it’s not plastic or aluminium, and preferably not made in China. Where can I get a ceramic/pyrex/stainless steel one here? Dwellings?
I like tea as long as someone else is making it for me. Otherwise, I go with my trusty coffee maker. It’s much more simple. put straining paper, put coffee, put water, press button, wait for 2 mins. pour coffee, light cigarette & finally drink coffee
Beyond SL and certainly here in Oz a “cuppa” (tea) is invariably offered as a first suggestion when anyone displays problems, worries, whatever – it’s an institution and a very effective placebo! Mind you, a lot of other things get offered too.
Yes – great pic, but your talent behind the lense is always evident.
Thanks Indi………
Australia gonna beat Pakistan tonight methinks – certainly some Aussie friends going to Premadasa tonite are hoping so.
The nice thing about coffee is it’s aroma, and you light up while having one? What a waste.
Cheers to that ! “Three cups of tea – one mans mission to promote peace – one school at a time ” the most amazing book you will ever read !
