I actually haven’t read Kottu that much lately, but I’m getting back into it. There’s a few good posts today. Himal is sublimating into technology and producing some funny stuff on Twitter, Facebook and the blog. He has an interesting post on why Sri Lankan cinema sucks so bad. This is something I have always wondered. It seems like the medium actually rewards ugliness and mediocrity. I’m not a cricket fan, but Island Cricket has an interesting analysis of the perennial Murali/Darrell Hair feud, which is simply interesting politically.
I recently wrote something about Meter Tuks, but Nisadas has a much more comprehensive post with price breakdowns and a bunch of phone numbers. I am noticing more and more of the things, which is good, though the drivers seem to be from out of town and can’t find anything.
David Blacker has a very interesting post about cars coming from an ad industry perspective, as in what our choice in cars says about us. This is from the newish Phoenix Ogilvy agency blog.
Din88 has a good post on ‘age discrimination’, specifically on a magazine editor rejecting something he wrote because it only appealed to a certain market. This I understand, I find it very difficult to write technology stuff for the SL market because you have to assume that the audience doesn’t know how to copy and paste. I would be interested to see the article in question though.
That’s all for today. Read anything interesting from the isle?
