On a boat
Anything called a Millionaire’s Glamour party is likely to contain neither millionaires nor glamor. I obviously should have known, but I thought that title was a joke until I saw it on the ticket. By then it was too late. Indeed, it was just the same Colombo crowd, doing circles around the port. If that’s not a metaphor for Colombo nightlife, I don’t know what is. It was like being at R&B, except on a boat. And you can’t leave. Needless to say, this was horrible.
Oh, so that’s why it was so packed around clansys last evening around 6. Found it hard to even walk past it as cars were clamoring for parking spaces.
He he, glad I didnt bother to make despite the free ticket!
I have never been to a ‘fancy’ Colombo that managed to rise above banality. They come off to me as pathetic attempts to ape the already pathetic Indian party scene.
Man I’m quite glad I’m out of these circles now.
I didn’t go for this because I figured (correctly) that it would be bad. However, some of my good friends did go and they don’t fit your description, so I guess you were doing your usual thing of being overly cynical and to hell with nuance if it makes a good blog post, right?
for you so called millionaires.
Its disgusting to think how people yap yap all the time without knowing the exact situation. For the gentleman who wrote this…. i suggest you check out the various packages that Jetliner offer and what the organizer chose. You see there is a package that includes a small cruise within the harbor etc….. it depends on what the organizer has chosen
Besides if you are millionaires, then why make a fuss on a ship such as the Jetliner… why not use your millions and have a super cruise overseas…… Instead of appreciating what our little country is trying achieve (one step at a time) they are ridiculed. Typical Sri Lankan mentality.
Its like this… if you don’t like what you see or taste and have nothing pleasant to say, best is you reserve your nasty comments which give people a different impression. Our tastes, likes & dislikes are not the same… so let others have a experience and decide for them self. What u hate another may like.
Since you are a millionaire you maybe use to being driven in a limousine and served caviar etc… so a smile meal for a person like will not be agreed by your organs inside, cas they are use to luxury only.
Great marketing by Mich.
I say Mitch thats a real good way of putting it.. BRAVO to you…
I say that Mitch completely misses the point. The author clearly indicated that the name of the event “Millionaire Glamour Party” and that it wasn’t actually for millionaires. It was just a flashy phrase to try to lure people into attending a sub par event.
Also, if the man paid to go this event, he has every right to describe how it went, whether it turned out to be a good or bad experience. Your differences in taste have little to do with whether it was a successful party or not; or whether the organizers delivered on what they promised to their paying customers.
