My car is in the shop so I’ve been on the bus and foot. It’s nice to get out of the pod sometimes, for a while. Then it’s just hot, then you fall asleep and wake up in Ratmalana. Being on the street you see a lot of things you wouldn’t otherwise. Human hair, for example. There are also tens of buses parked inside Vihara Maha Devi Park. Then there is this pony. These poor ponies have been on the corner for years, looking sad as stones. I got a look up close and you can see the tracks of his tears.
Vihara Maha Devi Park is a strange place. There’s a two story concrete slide with stairs missing. It’s a bit of a death trap. There’s a sad looking pelican in a stagnant pond, we call him Mr. Puddles. Besides that it’s OK. I just don’t get what these ponies are doing. I don’t know if there are pony rides, I haven’t seen. I don’t think anyone would want to ride them, nor they be happy to be rid. They just sit there with their emo haircuts and watch the cars pass by. Someday I’m going to free these ponies and take them back to Narnia.
There used to be pony rides long time back, about 20 years I mean. I guess it is still there. The slide with the stairs missing has always been a fasination to me. Have no idea what it was supposed to be. I think its a bit too rough to be a slide.
Did you also know that in Sathutu Uyana, there’s supposed to be an odd looking theater/cinema? Right next to dogems, you can see an odd looking arch/entrance which has a sort of a cloth-made back to it. Looks like a carnival tent that has fallen down. Some time back (again around 20 years) I went in to one of its shows with my uncle and dad. The cloth-tent part gets blown up by air and basically becomes a bloody huge projector screen. We had to sit down and basically it was a POV type of a movie where the actor was going on a fast car chase, whitewater rafting, a rollercoaster ride and finally a parchute jump. I still don’t know what it was supposed to be, but I have a feeling it was one 3D movie trial that went wrong. Probably everyone forgot that you were supposed to give stereoscopic spectacles with it. Sitting on the floor watching it didnt help much either.
poor pony! :(
“The slide with the stairs missing” indeed had stairs attached to it sometimes back and when I was size of an orange I was brave enough to climb all the way up and slide down by myself and I cut my hand on that horrible aluminum slide. It was quite painful. I didn’t step on another slide since then. I’m terrified of those.
Indi. Thanks for the photo of sittingnut.
aww..
Otara, where are you!
Are you serious? Otara only uses poor animals as a gimmick to get shoppers to visit her odel store. There needs to be a RSPCA in Sri Lanka, it’s disgusting how some animals are treated.

@Whimsical I beg to differ, the profits from Embark products go to the welfare of street dogs and education. Plus she speaks agaisnt puppy mills and encourages people to give strays a home. I think it’s cool.
and @pony :(
