Dialog girl in Jaffna
In Jaffna they seem to have used the same Dialog girl and photoshopped a pottu and jewelry onto here. And voila, Tamil Dialog girl. I’m pretty sure the Tigo girl in Wellawatte (Anne) is not Tamil either, but at least the costume is real. I found the photoshopping quite funny. Not offensive or anything, just patently odd. It is expensive to get model clearance again, but for the amount of business they’re going to do they might as well. Jaffna and the East were the highest growth areas during the cease fire and connections still go like hotcakes. The dealer boards, however, have a southern model with nosering photoshopped a bit askance.

Is her tottu photoshop work?
anyways, like that photo! <3
Localization!!! :D
Oh Yeah.. What else can we expect from the Ex-Dialog staffer who got kicked out for being such a worthless below mediocre soul that he was? Readers, don’t be mislead. This is just personal vendetta of a useless prick called Indi Samarajiva who got kicked out of Dialog in March 2009. He, just like his father, is a wannabe Telecom, Ad and Ethics Guru.. Funny it is, but this is the beauty of Internet. Even retards get to voice their silly opinions. Indi, grow up. Its about time.
I did work at Dialog and still have a great respect for the company. The last time I talked to my former co-workers was a few days ago and we really should have lunch soon. The company is actually quite tolerant and responsive to constructive criticism and it doesn’t sound like you work there.
Nothing new. Taken metaphorically, it shows exactly the mindset of every Sinhala dominated government since independence. Assuming good for Sinhalese is good for Tamils too. Sinhalese loved vernacular education. Sinhalese loved govt. jobs. Sinhalese loved controlled economy. We assumed Tamils too loved the same. So we impose the ‘photoshopped’ versions of everything on Tamils. Never bother what they really wanted. The game continues
OK, well, I really wouldn’t go that far either. It’s not a metaphor for everything wrong with Sri Lanka. It’s just a photo. Dialog has great coverage in Jaffna, including 3G high speed internet, and I know some of the chaps at the office there and they are authentic Tamils and quite cool.
Even Microsoft did this once.
They are companies. They want money. SOMEHOW!. So they would go for any illusion that (they think) would work.
And Indi, it’s a great start as a non Dialog employee :D .
@Ex Staffer – I don’t know about Indi trying to be a telecom guru ( well, I always thought he wanted to be an internet guru ), but are you sure that his father is a wannabe ? I don’t think so.
i was in jaffna, when i saw this boards i got shocked.
this rally bad advertising, really bad, and very cheap, just imaging what will be think other community, it’s bad hole corporate image of DIALOG. i dont know who is doing this ones, and Indi was in DIALOG i dont care or bother.
simply its funny and very chaep, just look in INDIA. the easy example. how they work, design, with different community,
Just my thoughts
joining the dialogue more than a year later… i have to say she looks WAY HOTTER with the pottu etc.!
