Mo’s benefit thing went off well, like two weeks ago. And herein is the, er, report. Firstly, much gracias to the musicians. The Barefoot Jazz Band has been playing together on Sundays for years now, and they have worn quite a groove. Southern Jazz Project is a house band at Fortress and they put on a good set of swing and jazz. Triloka is a growing popular fusion band and, playing with Ranil and Marsh they also delved into hard rock. Different for the Barefoot scene, but with a definite energy. Singer wise there was a lot of talent, Marsh for one and also the very young and talented Natalia and the less young but also talented Mariam. I’ve attached a video of the latter performing Joan Baez’s ‘Silver Dagger’ below. It was filmed by Martin Scorsese on iMAX quality film. Actually, it’s filmed on Tipsy Indi Cam and randomly points towards the ceiling. Think you can catch her voice though.
Anyways, I think Mo had a good time, and it went some ways towards the point, being the chemo. More than anything, it is a pleasant thing to have friends, to have music, to have art and to have love (or the possibility thereof). We’re putting together a gallery exhibition bit so his artist friends can contribute via silent auction. I am involved in that, so the organization is of course behind schedule. I do recommend art for home howevs. I got an Alex Stewart for a great price at the concert, and it’s like having a happy window hanging above my bed. Anyways, I’ll keep one posted, but a huge thank you to everyone who performed and came for the concert. Good time for a good man, hence hence.
