These guys are playing Jazz on Sunday. They’re all my friends, and they’re all bright guys. The music is mara good. Funky bass drum interaction from Shehan (Independence Square) and Dhinesh (Goatee), inticrate guitar by Asvajit (Risk) and funny/conscious lyrics from Sean (Hair). I saw them in a cramped Sugar performance and was quite surprisingly entertained. Not just the music, but that the sound and the lyrics just felt really right ‘now’. Like what it is really like on the street for people like me. Maybe not the street, more like what it’s like in the parking lot. Between the Pajero/bodyguard dip set and the actual Pettah street. Sunday Jazz sells itself anyways. There’s the big CR&FC green, beer, bites and an overworked pony. Band is pretty hot too. I included a YouTube of a song I like and the lyrics as best as I could decipher them.
Stop honking, yeah, stop driving
Stop going anywhere
Stop explosions in our backyard,
Stop acting like you careStop smoking indoors,
Stop drinking on full moons,
Something …Cause there are too many cops,
And way too many thievesThis is the end of… every [?]
Don’t read, don’t think, don’t argue
Don’t ever speak your mind
Don’t dig too deep,
You never know what you might findDon’t play your music too loud,
Do not choose polythene,
Do not mean what you say,
And do not do what you meanJust,
This is the end of every
This is the end of everything
… and somewhere here I stopped recording cause I wanted to save memory for the single – Fantastic Plastic
So this is the band with the guy singing through an effects pedal.
Nice.
When did they become ‘bright’? But I agree, their music is ‘mara good’….
