These are two photos which I liked, out of the Sarvodaya batch of over a thousand now. These are taken by Channa Ranasinghe, to the best of my knowledge. I like this first one because of the way the light reflects just at the child’s head. It is also reflecting off the fender of a Benz, which is somewhat poetic in that the backpack the kid is wearing is paid for by the donations of those more wealthy. I think it’s a really excellent, accidental photograph.
I hesitate to include this next photo, but of all the photos I’ve seen this is the one that’s affected me the most. This is a photo of a father tending the grave of his infant child. He lost two children, aged 18 months and 3 years. I’ve seen ruined houses and beached boats and (photos of) dead bodies, but this one I can’t look at for that long. I just… I don’t know.
