I’m posting a PowerPoint (Download file) I did on Lifewide Learning. It was for a speech Dr. C. What it’s saying is that Lifelong Learning is pointless if your life is short. The speech was tactfully delivered at the McGill Institute for Learning in Retirement.
In the case of smoking in Canada, lifewide education has reduced smoking dramatically. In the same way, education in Thailand has reduced the AIDS infection rate. In a sadder story, current US foriegn policy has boosted Anti-Americanism all over the world – which is not exactly the knowledge that we want to impart. There is still time, perhaps, to invest in books and schools rather than bombs. They say that we must win the war of ideas. That means education.
