This cover is composed of samples. The foreground is Bouguereau’s ‘Madonna & Child with St. John the Baptist’. The background is a photo of the Circumcision Room from the Ottoman Topkapi, in Istanbul. The Star of David on the wall reminds me that Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are all Sons of Abraham. Brothers.
I design covers for this McGill magazine, Radix. It’s run by McGill Chaplaincy. I went to a monastery, oh, 2 years ago. That’s a long time. Anyways, I felt very religious after and I wrote some Buddhist stuff for Radix, and designed covers.
Now I’m a material girl in a material world, but I still do some token work for God; as per the Radix press of about 1000 a month. So, this is a cover about circumcision as coming of age.
