I do think city streets should be for people and not cars. Should do like Boston and stick roads underground. Boston’s Big Dig is going to put their main road underground, and create 6 acres of park and public space. It also costs 14.7 billion dollars. Which is 12 billion overbudget. I still think it’s a good idea. I hate City Driving.
There’s a sizable population of Chasidic Jews in Mile End, north of The Plateau. This fam had the whole get-up, the curls and the full jacket, and the kids even had these little curls, payos. There’s a cool FAQ on Chassidism here, they’re pretty chill people from the ones I know. I dressed like a Chassidic Jew last Halloween, which was pretty funny. I didn’t walk around their neighborhood, though.
We drove up to the Observation Deck on the East side of Mont Royal. Can see the whole French end of the city, and yellow-purply clouds. The photo doesn’t really do them justice, but like, nothing does.
This is the Minivan Claire rented to move her books and suitcases.. no real furniture, thank god. I been driving it around, cause she can’t, and cause it’s kinda fun driving, but it also sucks parking downtown. Plus Montreal drivers are crazy (cause they’re Quebecois and hardcore, or those damn Audi-Housewives talking on their cell-phones and cutting me off, argggh). Plus there’s lots of Bicycles and Pedestrians, and nobody gives a fuck. People walk in the street, they bicycle in the middle car-lanes, shit, I do it. Sucks to cars, they got it bad in Montreal. Car Culture is vapid, anyways, but I won’t get started on that.
