ICC Messes Up T20 World Cup Ticket Sales
The line for T20 World Cup tickets, March 2012
So, one fine day in March, Boycy calls me and tells me they’re selling T20 World Cup tickets. So we go to the Thurstan sports place and stand a line, a line which snakes around the block. Boycy’s heard that the Bank Of Ceylon is selling tix so I leave him there to have a try. They of course haven’t heard of it and I take a tuk back to line, taking a break for some refreshments. While still in line, Boycy figures out that we can order online. So, quite happily, we do. I blog about it. All is well. Until.
Due to some database error, 143 customer buying 553 tickets won’t get what they ordered. They’ll be downgraded to other seats, or get a refund (after letting the ICC hold their money for six months). I got tickets for the final and an looking forward to watching it (rather than selling the tickets), but the whole process really was quite a fail by the ICC and Ticketmaster. Not selling people what they bought and not telling them till five months later is pretty bad play.

Not accurate.
“where spectators have been reassigned seats, they will be provided with a full refund of the cost of the tickets originally purchased.”
