Gihan de Chickera: Cartoonist Of The Year
His latest cartoon, showing the declining fortunes of CeyPetCo, and Sri Lankan energy in general.
Gihan de Chickera is one of the smartest and most thoughtful young Sri Lankans I know. No one is more deserving to win best cartoonist of the year. Not that I take the journalism awards super seriously besides, but this one is deserved. His cartoons are hilarious, and he’s an ambidextrous talent, starring in Machan (one of the best Sri Lankan movies ever) and numerous plays. So good on him.
Seriously, go check out some of his daily cartoons. They’re reaching a lot of people, and they’re uniformly funny cause they’re true. Just watch out for his signature, as he doesn’t do all the cartoons. No disrespect, but his work really stands out. Congratulations.
