If you’re not watching the Closing Ceremony, watch this video of the 4×400 men’s relay heats. Watch the US heat about 10 minutes in. About 200 meters in, runner Manteo Mitchell breaks his leg and still finishes the race. The announcers don’t know what’s going on so they just say ‘that was a poor leg by Mitchell’. Only later was he revealed that he ran half the thing with a broken leg. Amazing.

actually muscle tears are order of magnitude worse than broken bones for athletes. Broken bones heal completely, especially stress fractures. Muscles tears if aggravated will end your career.
