I am not forgetting Yvonne’s family, I shudder. To think of how a mother father and sister can live normal lives hereafter , a trail of devastation left behind by a family who was contolled by greed who did not know or did not care about their child’s emotional lack, and probably thought they could make up for the lack of parenting by showering their children with materialism, how empty they must have been as a family.

So many lives lost along with Yvonne’s, a mother who most probably will or would already be in deep depression, a father too who cannot bear the pain and coul or woul resort to alcoholism or leave his family because it would be unbearable for him to play happy families with one member never to return, the pain, the memories the guilt or of thinking what if …. And a sister who clearly loved Yvonne who will not be able to trust another man freely as she did eight years ago, lives forever altered.

So whoever you are try to think and feel another’s pain before blatantly speaking out just for the sake of doing so

All I can say is, it is a pity to see two young lives and the lives of those who love them ruined. It is tru what everyone says in their messages, but all I keep thinking of is what if my son, found himself in the same situation, would I have been so quick to judge? After all none of us can say that we are squeaky clean! We have all done something that we regret or are ashamed of in our past, it may be not as shocking as this, but all I can say is that no one (this boy) or anyone in their sane mind would go out there with the explicit intention of killing someone in such a gruesome manner. The way that poor girl was killed speaks for itself, it was someone who was either insane or under the influence of something so strong and bad that would have made him do such a thing. I cannot agree with death penalty, because all that is being done is putting to death someone who has been hurt deeply from childhood; which in turn brought about the pain he caused himself and those around him, by trying to numb that pain with drugs. I guess if asked he himself would want and end to the misery he is in, the pain of killing someone, not being able to live with the thought of getting out into the big wide world and have to carry the pain shame and blame for it all. If anything I think it is those around him who want him ou of the death sentence, I am almost certain he would welcome the day where it all ends.

If the people who class him as a society rich kid would have a chance to talk to him heart to heart I am more than certain they would walk away with a very different point of view.

I must empasise here that I do not know any one related to either party, I am a mother with a son his age, who can’t help but think What if it was my son!

The murderers father holds these “prayer” sessions in his palatial home. These assets he has not lost. I suggest he gets rid of all this and donate the funds to a home for young women . That will be a true sign of repentance for his actions of trying to cover up this murder. They tried to “act normal” and pretend but that didnt work.

He remembered to go along to see an investment after murdering a young woman.

What pervert..he had the audacity to even take off her stockings and tie them around her neck. I don’t know whether she was molested as well.

Hope he is hanged..best treatment for bastards like this. I cannot believe people are showing pity for this sort of crime. Is it the equally indecent cult they are a part of ?

Apart from the possible discussion of about capital punishment. All the media attention this case is getting is pathetic. There are 100s of nearly identical murders in this country, but many of them don’t even get two lines in a news paper. Society’s fascination with the glitterati is the only reason that this is deemed news worthy. This says a lot about how vacant we are as society.

Being very close and knowing yvonne, Caroline and the accused (I don’t even want to write out his disgusting name) you should be more aware of what you write, especially when you know nothing about them. The accused carried around coke with him in a little pouch all the time, known to all in Colombo “party goers”, Yvonne had no drugs or alcohol in her system. Caroline was only 17 at the time. No one deserves to be chased down a staircase with twisted ankles and then be grabbed and have their head so badly pounded with 64 fractures in the skull alone. And after that, be strangled. Lets say she was a heroin addicted prostitute, does that mean its more justifiable? Sometimes it is to people like you Bart that such things should happen. The Jonsson family have gone through hell in the past 7 years, constantly going to courts and hearing all the battering amd strangulation Yvonne received that night. They have been prisoners of this crime and now it’s only fair they free themselves and move on whilst that mother****** can rot in hell. Also, what do you call premeditated murder? There is EVIDENCE of him making calls and texting to arrange for him to leave crime scene as soon as it was committed and after arranging he waited for an hour or so till she came home. Bart just shut up.

Had he expressed genuine remorse, genuine regret and made a firm commitment to make amends for his misdeeds perhaps the public judgement would not have been so harsh. There is little that can be done for the dead girl or her family but a commitment to spend some years in charitable work by way of amends, even if under supervision of the prison authorities, would have earned him some sympathy, at least from me.
