Colombo is a dump. It’s a typical 3rd world capital city. Noisy, dirty, crowded, sweaty, in an advanced state of disrepair (all of Sri Lanka is in advanced disrepair). The traffic is horrific. The air is polluted and the dirty smells can really put you off. It is chaos and disorder at it’s very best. I hate this country. The people are not 3rd world. We are 4th world. We just don’t have what it takes. Personally, I would have preferred the British stayed back. I think we would have been much better off.

I’ve been complaining of the same thing, but the weeks before the rain in May were worse.

Mosquito nets are even worse than trousers.

Because its thicker than an ordinary hat and made of lightweight cork or pith it provides real insulation from the heat. With a hat the heat just transmits through to the head.

Also goes well with shorts ;)
