A Sarath Fonseka Interview
In this interview with Ceylon Today (which recently sacked its editor for political reasons, disgracefully). Wait, that sentence is too long. In this interview with Ceylon Today Sarath Fonseka shows why he gave hope to people, and also why he’s too crazy to be trusted with it. He makes all the right noises about the wrongs of the Rajapaksa government, but when asked what he learned in prison, he says that he studied Hitler (5:20) and how he punished people and moved Germany away from religion. Da fuq?

I’m happy to be featured in Echelon magazine’s 40 Under 40 feature, profiling young people who contribute to the economy in some way, mainly in business but also in terms of innovation and thought leadership. It’s an interesting article not just in that I’m in it (mainly for work on indi.ca and
I won’t add too much commentary, but just read I guess. The youngest Rajapaksa, Rohitha (Chi Chi) has given an amazing interview to the
In 2009 this strange character appeared on the Sri Lankan Internet scene, getting angry, flaming, trolling whatever. Then he started naming anonymous bloggers, posting comments as people’s kids, nasty stuff, for which I removed him from
He is a general after all and again Mahinda saved the country! :)
i wouldn’t trust fonseka till he clarifies what he meant by this: “I strongly believe that this country belongs to the Sinhalese but there are minority communities and we treat them like our people” etc – (http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=832374) .. whatever he meant, it was probably his true views, since he gave this interview when he was at the height of his power and influence..
On the other hand, is there anything crazy about what he says about Hitler here? it’s probably just a none too veiled reference to the government. see appointing judges and changing the law (18th amendment, privatization of non utilized assets bill), framing charges (probably a reference to his own incarceration) and moving people away from religion (in the SL context: true buddhism). and after talking about all this he says he’s able to “compare” the situation between here and there as a result of his studies. so i don’t think he’s saying he wants to be like him or anything.
alternatively, if your point is that he’s overstating things, that’s would be true if he said SL is the same. but he doesn’t.
I guess even Hitler had his supporters.
Someone please give Mr Fonseka come PR lessons, pretty please
He is a blunt guy. But he could have said something better. Like he studied economics or something…
I think he actually did read Hitler tho. That’s what’s scary
