I wouldn't say Linux is "harder". Of course that depends on the distro, but for the most part people find it hard to use because they're so used to the Windows interface. I've heard similar complaints about OSX which some would argue is more user friendly. It's simply getting to know it.

Hanthana's based on Fedora.

I use Linux as my main OS, and there's nothing in it that's "harder" than windows. Actually with stuff like Synaptic, it's actually easier to manage packages and keep out substandard software packages from your system (because everything is signed with a key)

The only way to break the M$ monopoly is to introduce kids to Linux while they're still young.

Linux has come a long way in terms of acceptability, but i'm still a little skeptical about the average user being comfortable with it over windows.

I wonder which distro they're giving these kids. I've heard that edubuntu is good for kids I've never touched it myself though

I think I know the guys who are responsible for this. I have been out of touch with them, but this has to be the work of the Lanka Linux User Group. Some awesome down to earth geeks they are. :) Well done guys!

How nice. These primary school kids will probably know what a linux is by the time they leave school whereas for me the term is vaguely reminiscent of a European feline.
