I like Colombo more and more these days. Every turn brings roads that are opening, every alley or new vista shows some undiscovered Wallawwa, festival or just kids playing cricket in the streets. I went to Galle Face Green after almost four years. It closed for regreening and I’d forgot. It’s still not green, but there were tons of people there. Cars were parked opposite the formerly high security Army camp, itself an incongruous dark spot among the inclining hotels and towers of the city. Colombo felt like a city again, after what God knows has been a long time. And it is a strangely beautiful city. I’ve frowned on it in favor of the provinces, but after visiting India Colombo seems like a province again. The city is surprisingly green and there is no concrete jungle to speak of. It’s really a rather nice place.

This is highly dubious. Miss Travel is a travel/social networking site that connects ‘Generous’ and ‘Attractive’ travelers. To, like, travel together, I guess. Are you kidding? Colombo needs a LOT more trees (like in front of Colomabo University)… and rather than having those ugly ass palm trees that are half dead on Galle Face, they should plant shady Brazilian raintrees. People should also learn to drive in their lanes, instead of on the line — seriously traffic would flow so much better if this was adhered to.
