Rumors About Fonseka

The negative campaign against Sarath Fonseka is really stepping up. Aside from the postering insinuating that he’ll become a bloody military dictator, there are also assorted rumors in the grapevine. I have heard some weird things. I think Sarath has a rough and mean past, but I think these rumors are nonsense. I reproduce a few I’ve heard for entertainment’s sake. If you’ve heard anything please ad.
I’ve heard that while Sarath was driving, his driver swerved to avoid something, making the General hit his head. He was so enraged that he thrashed the man with a baton.
I also heard that while getting a shave, the barber slipped and cut General Fonseka. He was so enraged that he cut off the barber’s ear.
I also heard that he boiled someone alive in a vat of purippu. Why someone would take the problem to get (and waste) so much purippu is beyond me.
I think all of these rumors are false and they seem constructed around a narrative that the General can’t control his temper. In this campaign, however, he has been relatively composed, except for mud involving his daughters.
I don’t think he’s a very nice man and I think he’s got a tough past. I don’t think he’d be cutting off his barber’s ear however, or unleashing bloodshed like the JVP years. One wonders if this is driving up his negatives, however. Though the facts may be wrong, sometimes the narrative sticks.

The man has a uncontrollable temper. Talk to anyone in the army and you can get a real picture of him. Seems these are rumors that can have an element of truth in it.

In politics, rumors target authority figures.
It is likely that there are far more false rumors about MR than about SF.
Both MR and SF are still outsiders to Colombo’s elite network.
Whoever wins, honeymoon will be short.
Those sound way off. I don’t think he’s that twisted. Potential for dictatorship, I wouldn’t put that past him.
In the case I’m wrong, maybe Army style disciplinarian would do us good.
Does anyone know about SF’s mandate regarding the police? I’d love to see the police be given a backbone to carry out law and order seeing everyone as equals under the law.

In the speach he called Upul Ilangamage “Kala Wedda” and “Paaharaya”,he admited that he pulled strings get him discharged from Army after he got absent since his parents were his friends.
What kind kind of dicipline is that ?
If army commander is your family friend you can desert army?
I know poor soldiers who are absent without leave (They call it “abba gahanawa”) and cannot go to their village even now.They do not want report to army since they will be severly reprimanded.They are dead scared of the Military Police and the police.
Forget about Hi-Corp saga or all the rumours about having threesomes with Mangala and Ranil ,why no journalist ask this guy to explain how he got Upul Ilangamage discharged from army?He clearly admited it on national TV.

I think whoever invented the parippu thing did it as a strawman so he could tie all the allegations to that and call them preposterous. Some of the other allegations, i hear, are not-so-baseless. For instance the Egg Hopper thing even went in defense columns of pro-army papers many years back, IIRC long before SF became the commander.
The most solid proof of his personality is how he showered praises upon Gota and MR before and how he now says that both were worthless. And that “kalawedda” thing doesn’t help either.
There’s this thing that people who pretend to sleep are the hardest to wake up.
… and of course, allegations of Sexual favoritism, misconduct, and rape. I think some are presented with much better evidence than (at least some of) those against MR, which the average UNPer doesn’t find “hard to believe” without evidence.
I don’t have problems admitting that MR isn’t a saint. I have problems about UNPer sitting inside glass houses and throwing stones at others. At least the serious ones must play fair, their main campaign slogan is that Rajapakse’s are bad and they are not (while Rajapakse’s claim is that he had delivered and will deliver more).
One more thing.
Ranil is saying that LTTE boycotted the election in 2005 to fvour MR.
At the time the allegation was that Mangala and Tiran Alles payed the money to LTTE to get this done.
Now Tiran and Magala are with Ranil.If that is true why can’t they come clean with the issue and let us no hw the deal went?

Ranil only wants to keep his Party leadership position.With the war being over ,there is no way he can beat Mahinda.So he has Sarath doing his bid.When Sarath fails nobody will talk about how incompetant Ranil is .He can keep his leadership for another 3-4 years .The only thing he wants is to use this leadership to attract young gay males .That is simple as that.Nobody wants to fuck an old geezer living in Colombo 7 without power .No respectable drama queen would say “I fucked Ranil” if he is not the leader of UNP and the opposition.
