"Is it true that Mervin silva was attacked by a gang of 50 army personals last Friday ?………."

Of course it's true but then Indie has always been known to go crawling around where whities hang out because he's "Canadian" after all and he's still got that drawl. Ask all the Norwegians, Germans, Pommes etc who knew him for his psychopanting ways back in the Tsunami days.

Sri Lanka is a great for child-molestors, the nasty trash from Europe, the US and the UK who, in the middle of a recession can't afford to go anywhere else where the locals are "obliging in all manner of ways and eager to please".

As for all the horrendous so called resorts that have been flung up anywhere and everywhere, I mean really how cheap is this country getting. It's disgusting.

I was happy to only see a few expat mansions alongside Rekewa beach last year. I would hate to think that unattended development takes place and ruins Tangalle. Will someone write about this to the CEA and stop this before it turns into another Unawatuna?

I was in Tangalle last week. The places really are beautiful but I was quite dismayed by the insensitive development taking place in the area with regard to hotels. A couple of outlets for the lagoon have been cut off by new roads causing the salinity in the lagoon to change and the mangroves to start dying back. Also one hotel I noted, Ganesh Gardens, has filled in a pathway to build a deck in the lagoon destroying mangroves. The effect on run off from this development into the lagoon also hasn't been mitigated. It's a shame that we have not learnt any lessons from the past decades about tourism development.
