The places really are beautiful but I was quite dismayed by the insensitive development taking place in the area with regard to hotels. A couple of outlets for the lagoon have been cut off by new roads causing the salinity in the lagoon to change and the mangroves to start dying back. Also one hotel I noted, Ganesh Gardens, has filled in a pathway to build a deck in the lagoon destroying mangroves. The effect on run off from this development into the lagoon also hasn't been mitigated. It's a shame that we have not learnt any lessons from the past decades about tourism development.
