On The Train

The Yal Devi getting into Colombo

The train is pretty sweet. I’ve spent 7 hours getting out of Anuradhapura but the Yal Devi got me home in 4. I had a nice nap, took some photographs, stuck my head out the window like a dog, it was nice. Played a little online Scrabble on my netbook even. Out of town and the mobile broadband still connect. I should say, I recommend the train. First class is Rs. 600 from Apura to Colombo. It’s pretty comfortable. Dudes sell short eats. Cups of Nescafe.

The Anuradhapura station is pristine, like the white temple to some colonial god. Our Lady Bureaucracy. The bathrooms, however, are a portal to hell. I felt a vague uneasiness within a hundred meter radius.

The Yal Devi should by all means come from Jaffna but not just yet. The trains seem to run on time. I think it’s a good way to travel. I think one can get from Trinco and Batti on these machines. I wonder.

Even I’ve noticed this, especially when u’ve got a stomach upset or whatever; when u get closer to the commode the urge gets more intense. Its at its highest when ur already in the loo n about to take ur pants off

Good insight

I didn’t have a reservation, I just showed up like an hour before. I think if it’s not rush hour there are usually seats available
