LTTE Confirms Prabhakaran Is Dead

We all saw the photos, but now the LTTE has confirmed that Vellupillai Prabhakaran is dead. This comes from their former arms smuggler and highest man standing, Selvarasa Pathmanathan (KP) via the BBC. I don’t rejoice in any death, but perhaps Sri Lanka can now move on without Prabhakaran fucking stuff up for everybody.
Organizations in Sri Lanka can be extraordinarily CEO/leadercentric, and the LTTE is one of the worst. In a killing off the competition kinda way. Prabha personally had a meal with each suicide bomber before a mission and picked many out. He also killed off or alienated most of the ‘promising’ second tier LTTErs and pretty much any other Tamil militants and moderates. So, this is a pretty effective decapitation of the LTTE.
The only issue is that Tamils don’t have any voice at all anymore, but hopefully a real one will emerge. I don’t think terrorism is within the acceptable discourse and it’s interesting that even the LTTE talks about entering a non-violent political process. It is effectively a diaspora organization, trying to tank Sri Lanka’s economy and hurt our people through sanctions.
On the contrary, however, I hope we can emerge from the murderous thumb of Prabhakaran to finally be everything we can be, all races, in a healthier economy and life. I don’t rejoice in death, but it’s good that Prabhakaran is dead. And it seems he really is.
