Colombo is a complete shi_t_hole. It’s like a little Calcutta or Bombay. You get all the things in filthy Indian but in a smaller scale. Colombo is also a slum city. Great majority of people live in slums or illegal housing. Colombo is filthy, noisy, dirty, overcrowded, endless traffic, and nobody actually lives inside the city center. I don’t think Sri Lankans are developed enough or sophisticated enough to create big cities. We have never built cities (big ones) in our history. We are basically simple minded people who lived very simple lives. I also think we don’t have the mentality. We have 3rd world 3rd class mentality. No only Colombo, all Sri Lankan cities are an eyesore. I live in Nugegoda. I went last week to the town and was fed-up. It was so noisy and polluted. Just a big mess. Even Kandy is like this. We are clearly 3rd world and will be for a long long time to come.
