Near Lakehouse. That’s literally all I know. Someone in WTC said the place shook, but that’s friend of a friend. From what I get on the News Alerts, 90 people have been admitted to hospital. Which is a shitload, so this must’ve been a big one. OK, now LBO has something. Apparently a suicide bomber on a bike rammed a police bus near the Hilton roundabout. Which is a busy round-about, being the main way in and out of Fort. And also very high security. But that’s what it is. There must have been an awful, awful lot of explosives in that bomb. Bloody shame, innit? The LTTE continue to be terrorists, but we as a mature nation still need to have the courage to walk the hard and compassionate path of peace, even in the face of such aggravation. IMHO.
A Sri Lanka police bus was targeted by a suspected Tamil Tiger suicide bomber around noon in the capital Colombo Friday, defence officials said. The blast went off near a busy roundabout near a temple and Colombo’s Hilton hotel. Military spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara said a suspected Tamil Tiger suicide bomber had carried out the attack. The defence ministry said a motorcycle bomber had rammed the bus. Witnesses reported seeing at least a dozen casualties at the scene
I was at WTC when the bomb blast. It shook the building and I ran out of the 3rd floor. I could see smoke that side of hilton and thought it must be at the check point. But the sound was not that big, as the one I heard sometime back in wellawatte. I thought it maybe smaller than which killed only a begger, but when i saw the place the damage was huge. I got out of the scene as soon as I can becuz I heard there was another bomb and went to chathem str mosque. Came back to hear 9 died and 90 injured. I’m very sorry for those people, I passed the spot not long before that, I could have so easy being among those. What a sad situation our beautiful island has to face. sad…
