Island Wide Power Loss

I thought it was just Battaramulla, but apparently Sri Lanka has gone dark (wtf?). Apparently the Power Minister said this was due to lightning and that the CEB is looking into it. Perhaps tomorrow after tea. I’m used to power outages every week or so, but for the whole island to go under is a bit odd. Damn lightning. An LTTE sympathizer, obviously. I also wonder where exactly lighting would have to hit to knock out the entire island. However, it seems that Jaffna is on another grid and they still have light. I also remember when that ship dropped anchor in the Indian ocean on top of the undersea cable and the country lost Internet for a day. SLT at least, but a lot of backbone. That was great. The country must be eerily dark right now, with all sorts of dark doings.

Apparently lighting has hit Laxapana near the Kelaniya river, knocking out the main grid. That means that power won’t come back till the AM most prolly. Someone’s going to have a long night.

Many areas of Colombo have regained power. Wonder if it’s the same for other districts as well……
