Bandaranaikes Grow Balls?

someone wants off this damnable float

I think Sri Lanka faces a George Bush kinda choice. Do we elect the likable dumbass with evil friends or the intelligent douchebag? I’d bet on the dumbass any day of the week, but it seems like the Bandaranaikes seem to have an aversion to anyone else fucking up the country. CBK slapped Mahinda over his JVP/Satan deal and now Anura has said “I really don’t care about the outcome of the election now, since the party’s long upheld principles have been betrayed. Our party’s candidate has joined hands with extremist forces and understandably I and my sister strongly feel major damage has been done to the party by his actions. (BBC)” Heehee, Ranil can’t run a campaign, but maybe the Bandaranaikes can sink the moustache with a red noose around his neck.

I think Mahinda is a cute poster boy and I would buy soap from him, but I wouldn’t put him in charge of anything. Electing him would send Sri Lanka directly backwards into war and economic stagnation, if the MOU with the JVP is any indication. He would basically scrap the peace process and economic reforms. So we get an unwinnable terrorist war and state corruption and inefficiency. And the people will eat photo ops. I would actually consider going back to Canada after a while, just cause it’ll be hard to get anything done. At the least I’ll have to get my ration card and National ID ready as inflation and war turn my money and sanity to mush.

Looking at Ranil posters makes me cringe but he actually brought peace and economic momentum, which is good enough to let me get about my daily life. I just want the World Bank to colonize us and oppress poor people to live in relative peace and prosperity. I don’t want war and I don’t want inflation making me poorer every day. But then, Mahinda is so pretty…

It’s not the balls.Pure hypocracy. They are doing what they did to CP Silva,Maithreepala Senanayake and Hector Kobbekaduwa to Mahinda. It’s an old trick.Anura is the same guy who was the bestfriend of JVP 3 months ago!

It’s should be either Bandaranayake or somebody from Jayawardena/Senanayake families(if anything can’t be done about it).

Which one is the “intelligent douchebag?” that would be a stretch for either Ranil or Mahinda…

mahinda has no chance of winning this election even without any interference by bandarafools. that is if he depends, as he seems to have decided on, almost exclusively on sinhala buddhist chauvinist votes in addition to the usual slfp block vote.

I was parked in front of Liberty Plaza for exactly one hour from 8.15am to 9.15 am today as Ma Man Mahi decided to close all entrances to the Liberty junction in lieu of his journey to the elections commissioners’ office to hand over his precious nomination papers. You would think that an intelligent politician (if there were any) would actually go a little later, there by not only avoiding the morning traffic but also getting a few more votes (hypothetically speaking yours trulys’) by not closing the roads, but noooooo, Ma Man Mahis’ “Gedarin Palayeme Nekatha” had apparently been during rush hour. I can understand Mahi, after all, fuck principles, he will loose the elections if he does not leave the house at the auspicious time now won’t he?

The English Speaking Elite:
  • Mahinda: This is sort of a forum, isn't it? What I mean is that Indi posts something, everyone has a quick read, then starts using this space to air their own views and spread their own message or start their own little (quite often completely unrelated) arguments or whatever... Its got an organic quality, which I think is quite nice......
  • The way of the Dodo: I think we should take some of this stuff and create a forum. That allows for better discussion and more mature dialog. What do you guys think...
  • Mahinda: Just curious... Didn't mean to offend....
Much More Mahinda:
  • Mahinda: Lousy, uninteresting comeback with only mild entertainment value. Where's the wit? Where's the logic/justification to the comment? I'm disappointed in you......
  • David Blacker: Mahinda, I doubt you'd make a good bench press, never mind a press sec....
  • Mahinda: Machang Blacker! Where have you been??! Were you busy washing your hair or something? Oh sorry - you don't have hair, no? So why the offensive attitude? Don't you think I'd make a good press sec? ;)...
The Final Cross:
  • Mahinda: Flyovers, if effectively used, are an excellent method of improving the flow of traffic and congestion. Since you guys don't think the ones that have been built work terribly well towards that objective, lets just blame Mahinda and the Government for this and move on :) Ok. That was just a little joke, but on a serious note, I think development should be well thought out and also implemented in the most cost effective manner. Which...
  • Anon: To add to what Dodo say, before the fly-over there was stop-go traffic at the Dehiwala junction. After the flyover there is a continuous, but slow flow of traffic. Although I use that road only rarely in my limited experience the length of the queue and the time taken to travel is no better after the flyover, and may be slightly worse. Moving the bus stand would be an improvement at Dehiwala, think Nugegoda is somewhat more...
  • Anon: Thanks Shammi, there was a very good interview in the Nation a few years back that opened my eyes to him. Think he did a fair job at the port and according to reports did not take a large "grant" that was in the offing. Agree with Dodo that Mangala's chances of getting elected at the moment look pretty slip....

Banned From Colombo Rowing Club

So, I got banned from Rowing Club. For wearing National Dress, I guess. Funny thing is they didn't tell me directly. The Rowing Club member in question just called a bunch of my friends and told them. Katha katha istyle. I hadn't heard of this guy's party, but it was odd that they'd make this little circle of pee-pee around me to keep me out. If I have beef with someone I may ignore them,

Monks, Testicles, and the Wrong Club

Sri Lankan politics is, as far as I can tell, a bunch of monkeys flinging shit at each other. Shit with rocks in it. So as a disclaimer, I am only repeating these stories cause they're really really funny. I'm not trying to make any political statements. If I screw up the names or the events please tell me. This is just what I hear and most of it's on

Just found that one of my exes got married. Time to re-evaluate my life. I guess it's OK. This is a partly fiction poem on my general mental vicinity. Sometimes. Cultivation For The Nation

I was talking to Appletree recently and he said something that stuck. 'These people aren't even farmers, they're just feudal'. These people being the government. They don't understand the concept of cultivation, of planting something and letting it grow. This was in reference to the governments policy of choking the mobile sector with weeds like taxation, compulsory identification and banning GPS. Note that the latter effectively bans Sri Lankans from most modern phones on the
