Congratulations on the Procreation

bhanu_wattegama.jpgThis is long overdue, but I’d say congrats to Chanuka on the birth of Bhanu Chiradeep Wattegama. Born Sunday, January 9th – 2005. In classic form, Chanuka sent out a PowerPoint announcing the deal. Also, congrats to Deshan on the birth of his child, and Channa and Sudeeva as well. I have only seen the latter and if that’s any indication they are all beautiful.

I must say that my opinion on children has changed since, well, seeing them. Non-theoretically, they kinda drive me crazy with the moving and the playing and the scratching and the watching TV while I’m trying to work. That said, they are much brighter than the adults I meet, and they give me hope that Sri Lanka can change dramatically in 25 years. I say 25 rather than 50 cause Bhanu et al will be, well, 25 by then and probably have his best work behind him.

These kids are born into good times, I think. I feel like where in a transition period where the promise of great knowledge is there, but intangible. I believe that these ones will have access to a world of greater education and opportunity than we can imagine, and that they will do great things with it. Or just be happy and have friends and family and stuff.
