The Lovely Feathers

My friends Mark, Rich, and Noah are in this band The Lovely Feathers. I always thought of them as my friends who had a band, but I’ve been listening to the CD “My Best Friend Daniel” and it’s really good. It’s catchy, funny, and I can listen to the thing the whole way through. I remember going to some of their shows and really enjoying it, and the album turned out well too.
Their site is www.thelovelyfeathers.com and it’s got MP3 downloads and stuff. I guess this is sort of an advertisement, but I like them. I like the guys, and the music, and I think they’re going somewhere.
This is a review from the Montreal Mirror:
If Lovely Feathers were a foetus, it wouldn’t even be born yet, but this local band has come a long way since its January conception. Before winning IROCmusic’s and le Swimming’s second annual Indie Rock Contest last week, they scored a Battle of the Bands gig at CafĂ© Campus on the strength of their very first show, and won. That initial victory encouraged some serious elbow grease on the part of singer-guitarists Mark Kupfert and Richard Yanofsky, bassist Noah Bernamoff, drummer Ted Suss and absentee keyboardist Daniel Suss, who’s wrapping up his studies in Singapore in time for a Pop Montreal gig.
For now, the “eccentric alt-pop” act is launching its debut album, a 13-step program of manic power pop, murky indie rock and graceful instrumentals called My Best Friend Daniel – the title is their way of saying they miss their piano-playing buddy.

I didn’t support the war (largely cause I thought it would fail), and I thought Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Fonseka were gleefully stomping everything. Fonseka even came out and said “I strongly believe that this country belongs to the Sinhalese but there are minority communities and we treat them like our people,” in 2008 (
General Sarath Fonseka was arrested on a bunch of trumped up charges, but mainly for daring to threaten Mahinda in a Presidential election. Despite his poor health, Fonseka was arrested in February 2010 and sentence to three years. Word on the street now, however, is that he’ll be released soon. Like any day now. President Mahinda Rajapaksa has told
I’ve been testing a lot of apps. A very interesting one is iPlayboy, from Playboy magazine. It’s bad porn but a good magazine, especially since you can read issues from its cultural heyday – the Mad Men era of the 60s.
I’m going to get back to blogging. I buy a shitload of stuff on my iPad. Not that I like spending money, and the exchange rate terrifies me, but it’s just so easy, and so good. For example, I’ve been reading comics again. Spiderman, and
