Gay Marriage in Massachusetts (Commemorative Coin)
When I was growing up I thought my lifetime would be boring. The most interesting thing I remember about the 90s was Grunge, and that was just microwaved Punk. The 60s had the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights movement and all this cool stuff but my early youth had bumpkis.
I look around today and see War overseas and a Civil Rights movement at home and I think perhaps my life won’t be that boring after all. As a note, I could do without the War part. But the Civil Rights is all good. I thought were were done after giving blacks rights and all (including the right to inter-racial marriage), but I forgot all about the gays.
So, today gays got married in Massachusetts and I’m really happy for them. I kinda look forward to getting married (maybe). It feels like an important part of growing up, an important stage in life. I’m glad that I have that to look forward to. I’m also glad that my gay friends have that to look forward to as well. I’ve met gay people and as far as I can tell they’re people just like me, and they fall in love just like me, so I think they should be able to get married like me. Congratulations.
