The Mass Media is getting upgrades.
I’m guessing, based on some research. The Net is cheap/free, so I think Culture and Knowledge will grow exponentially.
Theres a new machine coming out, my dads already seen it, its simply a box. A box which does everything you just described, computer, film, etc all just from one box. Its the most amazing thing, I don’t know when its going to be released I can check. But I agree in terms of the internet replacing that. I think the only fear, which I have, and which I will have for my future kids is, if its so free, just think of the vast majority of people who will be posting, hosting and putting out information out there. I find that people, don’t often think that much, that people often believe a lot of what they read, and not everything on the internet is safe, believable, unbiased and so rich culturally. Where do you start putting the boundaries, where do you start controlling what the future generations are going to read, be shocked and believe? The internet is taking us over, so much so that people get so absorbed by it, instead of writing a heartfelt letter someone will write an e-mail. Instead of calling up someone, someone will write a text message. It’s making us lazy I believe. Let us not forget our human values. On an education front, in terms of increasing communication in developed countries like you were talking about yes, its great. Increasing our cultural richness, giving us more all in one go, yes thats great too. But I think we should always be aware, not to let machines and technology override our lives, its so easy for it to do so, because at the click of a button it could all disappear. You probably think very differently to all this, and thats okay and you probably even have evidence to prove me wrong, but thats okay too. I just wanted to give my opinion.
