It was my Birthday, then school starts, hundreds of people I know got back into town, People started offering me McGill Web jobs, and, yeah. I’ve been busy. My voicemail is clogged and I miss calls.. and I don’t mind. Justin is uber-social and he told me that’s just how it is. I just have less time in the day, so I can’t always talk or call-back… cause I’m out all the time.

I’m always with different people from whenever I go to class till like 2 in the AM. McGill is a freaking social pool now. I kinda want to chill and focus on class, but my peers are probably the greatest resource of this University. So I hang out, and get prof/text stuff filtered through an interface. Like Tanya, I learned about Conditioning by just talking to Tanya. I hated the text and I just stopped reading it.

Anyways, I almost can’t wait for it to get colder so I can settle into the houses I know, and talk and read and be ‘civilized.’ Cause civilization is cold. We do look at our maps with the North at the top.

from here

The most civilized nations are Japan, South Korea, Canada, UK, Sweden… and assorted white people. Winter makes technology absolutely necessary, so you get more ‘civilization.’ Reading and shit – less eating, drinking beer, and getting laid.

I completely forget what I was talking about…

Oh yeah, I wanted to thank Amma and ThaTha and fam for their Birthday wishes, and everybody. I never really understood Birthdays cause I live very much in the moment and I don’t really think in terms of days. But I really appreciate the time people take.

I wanted to say thanks to ThaTha for the books he sent me, the one I’m reading now is called Linked, by Albert-Laszlo Barabasi.

My dad sends me good books, The Age of Spiritual Machines and Emergence completely changed the way I think. He used to be a prof at Ohio State University, so I get some pretty good recommendations.

Firaz: Not all of them run with the dispatch guys. Most now run independently because they just get more hires off the road. People are more inclined to jump in a meter taxi these days. That’s what I hear.
